Poodle

A poodle is a breed of dog known for its distinctive curly, dense coat and high intelligence. Despite its elegant appearance, it was originally bred in Germany as a water retriever.

Physical Description

Poodles come in three main size varieties: Standard, Miniature, and Toy. They have a proud carriage, a long muzzle, and floppy ears. Their coat is a single layer of tight curls that sheds very little, making them a popular choice for people with allergies. Poodle owners often groom them in specific cuts, with the Continental clip being the most famous, leaving puffs of hair on the joints and tail tip. This style was originally practical, as it was designed to keep the joints warm in cold water.

Temperament and Intelligence

Poodles are considered one of the most intelligent dog breeds. They are eager to please, highly trainable, and excel at dog sports such as agility and obedience. They are also known for being a very social and active breed that requires regular mental and physical stimulation.
