A weasel is a small, slender carnivore belonging to the genus Mustela within the family Mustelidae. They are known for their long, thin bodies, quick movements, and fearless hunting nature.
Physical Description
Weasels have a long, flexible body, a small head, and short legs, which allows them to easily pursue prey into burrows and small crevices. Their fur can be a variety of colors, but many species in colder climates turn white in the winter to camouflage in the snow. This color change is known as seasonal dimorphism.
Habitat and Diet
Weasels are found on almost every continent, from North America and Europe to Asia and Africa. They are highly adaptable and live in a wide range of habitats, including grasslands, forests, and mountainous regions.
They are fierce and voracious predators. Their diet consists mainly of small rodents like mice and voles, but they will also hunt rabbits, birds, and even frogs and snakes. Despite their small size, they are known for their aggressive and bold hunting style.
